Presentation of the OMT-Spain books

En el pasado, el material didáctico que se utilizaba se basaba en lo que se llamaban "Cuadernos de Fisioterapia", que consistían en Avances en Fisioterapia volúmenes I-II-III y Masaje Funcional e Inmovilización funcional.

Already in the years 2001 and 2004, the first and second edition respectively, of the Orthopaedic Manual Therapy books volumes I and II from Freddy Kaltenborn were translated into Spanish.

While that is what the past in concerned, in the present OMT-Spain has been in charge of several publications. In 2009 the Manual Physical Therapy vol-II in its third edition and Manual Physical Therapy vol-III-Spine and extremities Traction Manipulation in the Resting Position both by Freddy Kaltenborn were edited and translated by OMT-Spain. This last book with an essential mission to fulfill, that of compiling the short and quick thrust techniques in the resting position, safe techniques that can be instructed and trained in the undergraduate physical therapy schools.

Also in 2009 the same publisher, OMT-Spain, translated into Spanish and printed Translatoric Spinal Manipulation (TSM) from Olaf Evjenth in collaboration with Oakland University. In 2010 the Diacutaneous Fibrolysis and Biomechanics of the Nervous System: Breig revisited were published and translated into Spanish respectively the first by Diacutaneous Fibrolysis Spanish Association and the second by NDS-Spain.

However, today the Muscle Stretching and Self-Stretching in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy OMT (Extremities) has a leading role and the I National Congress of OMT-Spain was the perfect springboard and launching for this work. This is a book that aims to occupy the space that exists in Spanish with regard to these techniques; it was the earlier work by Olaf Evjenth which led to the realization of a new publication which is now more complete and better adapted to the OMT practice. It is a book that includes stretching and self-stretching techniques and aims to achieve the objective that these techniques are performed by the physical therapist first and then should be completed by the patient´s active treatment, being the self-stretching important for that. This is a work that has been under constant supervision of Olaf Evjenth and not only includes techniques, but also the keys for their correct application and the basis os its indications and contraindications.

After walking form the past to the present publications, the future projects were also presented, such as the Muscle Re-strengthening with Professor Lasse Thue´s collaboration and the Functional Massage book with Oakland University´s cooperation, it is hoped that they are also warmly accepted when they come out.
