IFOMPT Educational Standards

Since its foundation at the beginning of the 70's, the different executive and educational boards of IFOMPT have worked in order to establish certain internationally acknowledged standards which rule the OMT education. These standards gather the educational objectives which the OMT training programs organized by IFOMPT's members in each country should meet.

The acceptance of the educational, theoretical and practical, standards and its application in a training program are the prerequisites to be met by the groups that would like to achieve the IFOMPT member's category. That is how the OMT-Spain association has achieved to reach this status, through the organization of a postgraduate OMT training program in our country.

The educational standards of IFOMPT are based on the organization's objectives, and nowadays have been developed in competencies describing the theoretical, practical and clinical skills and knowledge the OMT physical therapist should have in the actual health outlook. These competencies meet, therefore, all the dimensions that a OMT training program include.
