¿What is the Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy? The Orthopaedic Manual/Manipulative Physical Therapy (OMT) is a specialization within the physical therapy which offers conservative techniques for the neuro-musculoskeletal pain and other symptoms of the spine and the extremities and it is characterized by being applied manually, in most of the cases. According to the definition adopted at the IFOMPT congress of 2004: "The Orthopaedic Manual/Manipulative Physical Therapy is a specialized area within the Physical Therapy for the treatment of neuro-musculoskeletal dysfunctions, based on the clinical reasoning and using very specific treatment methods, including manual techniques and therapeutic exercises. The Orthopaedic Manual/Manipulative Physical Therapy also includes and it is ruled by the scientific and clinical evidence available and by the biopsicosocial concept of each patient in an individual way". The Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy is worldwide organized by IFOMPT (International Federation of Orthopaedic Manual/Manipulative Physical Therapy), nongovernmental and international organization, acknowledged as a WCPT's subgroup (World Confederation of Physical Therapy).
